Elmhurst College football player Scottie Williams has been chosen as a Capital One First Team Academic All-American.Williams was one of just two running backs named to the 25-player NCAA Division III Academic All-American First Team A first-team academic all-district selection, Williams was one of the nation’s best running backs on the field and in the classroom. Williams is the 31st overall Elmhurst student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors. He is the 24th Bluejay to achieve the honor since the 2000-01 season. He is the third football player to earn the honor in the past four years. A marketing major,Williams maintains a 3..46 grade-point average.
Elmhurst College Football has over 15 seniors coming back including Furco and Williams, so they are looking forward to a very productive season. One of the 1st teams that dailycollegefootball.com cover besides LSU, Oregon, Baylor and TCU games, was the Elmhurst Bluejays. I had the chance to walk the sidelines and take pictures, and looking forward to the 2012 season as well. I am sure Coach Tim Lester is looking forward to the 2012 season with the same backfield and having Joe Furco back at Quarterback and Scottie Williams running the ball.
LSU Tigers CB Mathieu took some jabs at AJ McCarron calling him out saying, try throwing a corner route or cross country on me down the field….. I will be waiting. AJ’s response was mostly team play, but did say that #14 did’t do too much in New Orleans, and actions speak louder than words. Honey Badger responded defense wins games, and AJ didnt score too many points. AJ took the high road and said we will be patiently and be quiet and wait our turn……. interesting, but I think the Honey Badger called out A.J…….. AJ talked about team ball, and playing as a team. I can’t wait for the showdown NOV. 3RD……… woooohhhhhoooooo.
There is alot of blogging going in ESPN World, and the fans are doing the jawing….and the talking, and they are not stopping. The 2012 Season is in full swing as we await the kickoff of the Alabama vs Michigan Game in Jerry World.

Tough loss for the LSU Tigers sunday night, the coach of the Tigers Paul Mainieri comments are, it’s suddenly over, it’s awful for his team Seniors and the team not to get a trip to Omaha. The Seawolves deserve the trip, lots of good pitching, clutch hitting from Stony Brook, and it’s the 2nd day that the Seawolves pitching held the LSU Bats to 3 hits. Mason Katz had LSU’s only run with a solo shot in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game up.The two hotest teams going into Omaha I would say are the Stony Brook Seawolves and the Florida State Seminoles. The Noles demolished Stanford, the 1st game 17 to 1, and the second game 18 to 7. The Noles scored 35 runs over the weekend, since I been following College Baseball from the early 90’s I never seen a team score that many runs since LSU when they played gorilla ball and just pounded teams back in the 90’s for their 5 National Championships. I would go with the Noles to win it all, but don’t count out the Seawolves. I think LSU was the best team in baseball, and the Seawolves beat them 2 out of 3. I am sure the sloppiness on the field had something to do with LSU’s play, but the Seawolves had to play on the field as well. Frankie Vanderka’s complete game helped the Seawolves to advance as he allowed only two runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Stony Brook qualified for the program’s first College World Series and improved to 2-1 in NCAA Super Regional games, while LSU dropped to 12-10 in NCAA Super Regional games. Stony Brook will play UCLA, the number 2 national seed on Friday in the opening round of the CWS. Good luck to Stony Brook, they will need it especially having the 1st time jitters in Omaha on the big stage at the CWS. William Carmona went 3 for 5, batted 399, with 1 rbi, 2 runs scored, and Travis Jankowski went 4 for 6, with 422 pct at bat, and 2 runs scored, if Stony Brook keeps hitting the ball like they did against LSU they will sweep thru Omaha. The Seawolves will be on display, but they will be playing a talented UCLA Bruins ball club who has been to Omaha twice in the last 3 years. In other Super Regional Series Oregon, and Florida advances, as South Carolina and Oklahoma are awaiting a rain delay and resume play today; defending 2 time champion South Carolina leads the series 1-0. Baylor and Arkansas split their series and resumes play today to decide who goes to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. I remember starting my websites 1st roadtrip which started in Waco,Tx attending the Baylor vs TCU Game, amazing enough Baylor’s Programs have done well this year in football, (Sunbow, Robert Griffin III, Heisman Trophy), Mens Basketball (final 8), Lady Bears Basketball went 40-0 with a National Championship, and the Lady Bears softball 34 -22 NCAA Playoffs, and now the Baylor Bears Baseball has a chance to go to the CWS; Sick em Bears.
There is severe weather in Baton Rouge today so the LSU vs Stony Brook game has been postpone til tonight. One team will be heading toward Omaha after tonight. The Baton Rouge Super has been a battle for both teams, LSU pitching vs Stony Brook hitting, although LSU Tigers hit 3 decisive home runs in the 1st game to keep the Tigers in hunt. PAUL MAINIERI slept on a decision to bring in Ace Kevin Gausman in for the 1st game that went to 12 innings, Gausman threw 12 pitches, and then LSU’s Mason Katz drove in the winning run. Kevin Gausman who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles forth pick overall in the draft finish the first game, and came in and pitch the next game. Gausman started out really well in the 1st, 2 innings he recorded 4 strikeouts, but had a rocky 3rd inning giving up two runs, and then gave up a home run to Courtney in the 5th inning. The weather has been a big factor for both teams, but favors the hitting on each team. LSU has been plagued by double plays, if you are hitting into double plays it’s very hard to score runs.Tyler Johnson had a big game in game 2 for Stony Brook as he held LSU Tiger Bats to 1 run, and 3 hits. The Seawolves pitchers have been throwing alot off speed pitches, but as George W. Bush said on T.V. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice… you can’t get fooled again, I am sure the LSU Batters will catch on to this off speed pitching as they take the field tonight. The game postpone til 7pm which is about a 28 hour break from yesterdays last pitch might favor the home team which will be LSU, since they will have the last at bat, and it might come down to last bat to finalize this series. The weather has not been good over the south this weekend, Florida and North Carolina State are awaiting a lighting delay up so they can resume action in their game, the Gators lead the game 1-0 in the top of the 3rd.
Tough loss for LSU Tigers today 3 to 1 to Stony Brook, but LSU did win the 1st game 5 to 4 with a RBI single by Katz. Play resumes tomorrow around 12pm, expect LSU to bounce back as the home team and jump on the Seawolves pitching right away, and start making there way to Omaha. UCLA and ARIZONA have already punch there time cards as two teams that made it to Omaha, they are waiting on the other 6 teams to decide their chance to go to Omaha. Looks like we are gonna bring the blog on the road to Omaha perhaps stay for the full 10 days, a exciting time in Omaha it should be. I would say Stony Brook is a tough team with good hitting and pitching, but I don’t think they seen the full miltary of LSU Tigers offense. Tomorrow is gonna be a great day for College Baseball…. good luck to all teams.
Second basemen J Travis for Florida State is on a roll with 2 homeruns tonight, and a on slaught of runs for the Seminoles. The Seminoles are leading the Stanford Cardinals 17 to 1, probably the most runs produce in a Super Regional College Baseball Game. The Seminoles better save some offense for saturday and perhaps sunday if Stanford wins saturdays game. I would say the Seminoles bats are happy and the players are glad to be hitting the baseballs out of the field, and the park. I am sure Stanford wishes they were back in Palo Alto perhaps on Facebook, or hitting the books. Too bad the 15 run rule didn’t come into effect.
In the Tallahassee Super Regionals, Florida State jump on Stanford in the 4th inning and never let up, J Boyd, J Brizuella, J Delph, J Gonzales, J Holland, S Johnson, and S McGee all scored during the exciting 4th inning, and the 5th and 6th inning were productive as well with another 6 runs. The Seminoles are making a statement about being in Omaha for the CWS. As Tom Cruise said in A Few Good Men, the hits just keep on coming, as well as the runs……
LSU vs Stony Brook game postpone til tomorrow 10am…… Game 2 will be played in the afternoon, hopefully the clouds will still away to see who goes on to Omaha. Looks like I am gonna take the blog on the road to Omaha looking forward to the trip to Nebraska to see some games in the College World Series…..
A recap on the LSU vs Stony Brook game, what a exciting game, if you are a baseball fan this is the game for you. Stony Brook has 14 hits on 4 runs, LSU has 7 hits on 4 runs, 3 of those runs are home runs. Each time Stony Brook went up by a run, 2 to 1 in the 8th inning, LSU has responded with a homerun. LSU tied it up in the 9th inning with a solo shot from Jacoby Jones, and then Stony Brook comes back and goes ahead with Steven Goldstein hitting a solo shot. LSU comes in the bottom of the 10th and Tyler Moore hits one out, going to the top of the 11th Kevin Krause slides under the catchers glove, so Stony Brook goes up 4 to 3, but Mason Katz answers with a solo shot into the LSU practice field which cleared the whole ball park and then some. Kaddar came in from the bullpen with some heat, but the Stony Brook Coaching Staff forgot to tell Kaddar about Mason Katz as he parked one of his pitches in the Mississippi River….to tie it up 4-4. The two teams are waiting for the rain to stop before they get back on the field to complete todays game….
Atlanta Elite 11: Anthony Jennings Highlights
Highlights from Anthony Jennings (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) appearance at the Atlanta Elite 11 camp.
Anthony Jenkins committed to LSU Tigers on a verbal commit to come play quarterback and continue LSU Football success to compete for BCS Titles year end and year out….. GEAUX TIGERS
Anthony Jennings released this statement regarding his decision to choose LSU:
“I am very fortunate to be in the position I’m currently in, and I realize that I did not arrive at this point by myself. First and foremost, I want to thank my family for their constant love and support. I’d also like to thank all of my teammates and coaches as well as the teachers and administrative staff at Marietta High School. Special thanks also goes out to the entire Marietta community which is always so supportive of our program. Playing football at Marietta is special.
I must say, of all my days of following football, this a very humble football player who gives praise to his family, school, coaches, and community.

One Reason Why So Many College Stars Fail in the Pros
Sam Obitz / May 17th, 2012 /
Many athletes think that because they are an exceptional college athlete, that it will translate into success and riches at the next level. The higher the level you are playing at in athletics, the more important the mental aspect of your game comes into play. I could list umpteen examples of physically dominant college athletes that didn’t stick at the pro level. The reason this happens so often is that once they reach the next level, their physical advantage has diminished, and by itself, it is no longer enough to keep them on top.
The higher the level of competition, the more separation you get in having a mental advantage. Most athletes are in the habit of working hard physically to stay on top, but once you reach the highest level in your sport you come face to face with the law of diminishing returns when it comes to what you can influence with your fitness level.
Conversely, those who transition into or have already started working on their mental game, gain a significant advantage as the mental side is still hugely under exploited in a majority of pro sports and especially in professional football. Just as physical ability can be developed and improved upon, so can your mental game.
So why don’t more athletes dedicate themselves to mental training? Just like working out physically, effective mental training takes a considerable amount of time and discipline. You would not expect to be in top physical condition working out a few times a month, would you? Working out mentally is no different; you get out of it what you put into it.
Starting a mental training regimen can be difficult and even feel awkward initially, but once you make it a habit and begin to see the benefits, it can be a lot more fun than weight training. It is also likely to give you a much bigger edge over your competitors than weight training. I’m not saying this replaces weight and other training regimens, just that it will help separate you from the crowd more than other forms of training at this level.
I always like to say that if you don’t like being stuck in crowds…. go the extra mile, it’s never crowded there! Adding mental training to your daily workout regimen is like going the extra mile, and that is what will enable you to gain a substantial edge over your competition.
