Californians visiting Baton Rouge, and enjoying the food and culture.

I ran into some really cool Californians from the Pleasanton area, being a Uber Driver I tend to meet a lot of people. I told them about one of the best dishes in Baton Rouge, that would be the Crawfish or Shrimp Etouffee, amazing dish, and to visit the LSU Chimes on highland road .

We had a fun conservation about football and sports at LSU and the tradition of LSU Football, tailgating and watching football at Tiger Stadium which seats 102,000 people, they were very surprised. Well Kathy and friends enjoy the food, culture and history in Louisiana, enjoy your time. Be sure to comeback for a LSU football game during the season, and make sure it’s on a Saturday night…

New Orleans legend RB Joe McKnight shot to death over road rage

Former New York Jets and USC Trojan Joe McKnight has been shot and killed at the age of 28. The police showed up on the scene and tried to give CPR, McKnight stopped breathing seconds later.  I remember going to USC games when Joe McKnight was a USC Trojan, it was said he was the next Reggie Bush. LSU,  Alabama and the rest of the country highly recruited Joe McKnight but USC won the high stakes. The city of New Orleans is in mourning tonight because they lost one of their sons.

Special Teams Coach Peveto Was dismissed from the team

A starenent from Coach Orgeron.

“We appreciate Bradley Dale and the work he put into this program. However, at this time we have decided to move in a different direction with our special teams.”

The LSU Special teams have been struggling for the last 2 or 3 years so LSU Football decided to go in a different direction by letting Mr. Peveto go, he was a very good recruiter, which is very good, recruiting is good, but you have to coach the special teams, like the punt and kickoff returners, the kickers, the punters and the kickoff and return team. LSU has been fumbling the ball quite a bit and fielding the ball inside the 10 yard line, you never field the ball inside the 7 or 5 yard line, you are supposed to let the ball go. I played receiver but never fielded punts, I grew watching Billy White Shoes Johnson field punts, I saw him jump over 2 players and run a punt back for 75 yards. Johnson was a very good returner didn’t matter pints or kickoff . I think a lot of LSU punt or kickoff specialists want to make big plays but you have to catch the ball first, that was a big problem for Donte Jackson vs Florida where he fumbled a punt on the 15 yard line, it only led to 3 pts and LSU could of still won the game.

The LSU kicker Colby delahoussaye needs to get the ball airborne up , up, up, if he wants to play on Sunday’s or make sure LSU is a contender next year. If Colby goes an watches some film on NFL kickers, you need to get under the ball and lift it high over the line of scrimmage to get 3 points, you can’t send a projectile over the line of scrimmage or like in the Alabana game the big defender will bat it down.

Coach Orgeron needs to go out and hire a Special Teams Coach, seems like he is putting the right pieces of the puzzle together, the next piece will be hiring a offense coordinator, Lane Kiffin, if he comes available. The offensive coordinator is a big piece, LSU had a decent O coordinator and only lost 2 games what’s gonna happen if they get someone back there serving up plays left and right. I believe that will be the biggest piece of the puzzle for the Tigers. What surprises me is the past LSU Coach thought he was the offensive coordinator amazing. Coach Orgerons success will be base on who comes in as Offensive Coodinator, if they put up a lot of points, LSU defense can hold the other opponents to  a couple of touchdowns. The future remains to be seen at LSU, we are gonna have to wait for the New Year 2017.

Active shooter killed on the Ohio State Campus, 8 people shot

There was a active shooter on the Ohio State University, 8 people have been shot, 1 person in critical condition, the other 7 are in stable condition. As they are taken to the hospital. The University is cover by 19 acres of land. 60,000 students were told to run, hide and fight if they come across this active shooter. Some students are on a lock down, students are hiding out in bathrooms, the swat team is on the scene. The police surrounded the active shooter and killed the person. The shooting took place after Ohio State had a big win over Michigan on Saturday.

LSU Coach Orgeron thanks his coaches, his players, the media, his mom and dad

Today it was made official, Ed Orgeron becomes Head Football Coach of the LSU Tigers. Coach O has waited for this chance to be coach for along time. He said he used to drive over the Mississippi River Bridge wanting to even become a Asst Coach at LSU. Now Coach Orgeron is the head coach of the LSU Tigers.

Coach O laid out a game plan in his interview saying he will bring in the best offensive coordinator in the nation, some think that is Lane Kiffin, because they are good friends, it’s a wait and see kinda of thing. If Lane Kiffin comes over that’s gonna give LSU a big boost for next year.

LSU Coach Orgeron gave credit to his mom for being coach, and then started to break down as he gave credit to his dad, he said his dad always told him to work very hard whatever you do. It was a very emotional press conference, when Coach O was done with his questions from the media the whole room startred clapping. I got a chance to sit by one of Coach Orgerons teammates from  Northwestern State, Mr.Van, he backed up Coach O at defensive end. Mr.Van already knew Coach O would be a coach one day, he said he had it in him to coach, and direct players in the right direction. Coach O had a lot of friends present at the press conference it was a very festive time.

LSU Tigers steamrolled the Aggies 54-39 making it 6 in a roll.

LSU Tigers steamrolls Texas AM in front of their home crowd of 102,000 fans. LSU rb Darius Guice set a LSU record with 285 yards and scored 4 touchdowns, and LSU QB Danny Etling threw for 324 yards and 2 tds. The LSU offensive line didnt have a problem with moving the Aggies defensive line all over the field to create holes for Guice to run thru. The LSU O line did struggle against Alabama and last week vs Florida, which says alot about those two teams. If LSU won those two games they would be sitting at 9-2, ready to go to the SEC Title game and a chance to go to the playoffs, but now they are sitting at 7-4 with a very impressive win over Texas AM, even the undefeated Alabama team  didn’t score 54 points on the Aggies. It was the most points scored on a John Chavis defense in along time. I guess it shows you LSU came to play. LSU Coach Orgeron said he took over the program, and it look like a sinking ship,and they turned the program around and finished out 7-4 with some really impressive wins. Coach O still wants to be head coach and awaits the due process with LSU Athletics. LSU wrs had a big night Gage had a reception touchdown in the endzone, as he dragged his feet for the touchdown.Wr Malachi Dupree had a touchdown catch as well, with 4 catches on the night. LSU wr Chark, jr swept around for a 7 yrd touchdown and was very impressive. Since Beckham and Landry, Chark, Jr stands out as a premier wideout for LSU. I guess John Chavis didn’t have a answer for the LSU Play calling which they really needed especially after the performance vs Florida. LSU now gets ready for a invitation to a bowl game.

LSU TRAVELS TO FACE TEXAS A&M ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT
LSU, now 4-2 under head coach Ed Orgeron, will play its game of the regular season on Thursday night when the 25th-ranked Tigers travel to College Station, Texas to face 22nd-ranked Texas A&M. Kickoff between the Tigers and Aggies is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN. It’s the third straight year that LSU and Texas A&M play in the season finale. LSU, which is coming off a 16-10 loss to Florida last week, brings a 6-4 overall mark and a 4-3 league record into the game. Texas A&M beat Texas-San Antonio, 23-10, last week and stands at 8-3 overall and 4-3 in SEC action. LSU is 4-0 against the Aggies since A&M joined the SEC in 2012. Overall, LSU has won five straight against Texas A&M, which includes a 41-24 win in the 2011 Cotton Bowl, and leads the series, 31-20-3. LSU will play on Thanksgiving for the 27th time in program history and the Tigers are 11-10-5 in those games. Two years ago, LSU beat Texas A&M, 23-17, on Thanksgiving Night in College Station. Orgeron is 20-29 overall (4-2 at LSU, 6-2 at Southern Cal, 10-25 at Ole Miss) and he’s 10-4 in his last 14 games as a head coach. LSU brings one of the nation’s top defenses into the game as the Tigers have allowed just 11 touchdowns all season, the fewest in the FBS. Overall, LSU ranks No. 2 in the SEC in rush defense (115.2), No. 3 in scoring defense (14.1) and total defense (308.1) and No. 5 in pass defense (192.9). Offensively, LSU is averaging 25.7 points and 406.1 total yards (220.2 rushing, 174.0 passing) per game. RB Derrius Guice leads LSU and ranks No. 4 in the SEC with 96.4 yards rushing per game (964 yards, 10 TDs). He’s followed by Leonard Fournette (843 yards, 8 TDs). QB Danny Etling is 5-3 as the starter for the Tigers and has completed 124-of-212 passes for 1,582 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. His top targets are Malachi Dupre (30 rec., 404 yards, 2 TDs), Travin Dural (28 rec., 280 yards, 1 TD), and D.J. Chark (21 rec., 360 yards, 3 TDs). Defensively, LB Kendell Beckwith leads the Tigers in tackles with 91. Other defensive leaders for LSU include LB Duke Riley (81 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 1 Int.), S Jamal Adams (65 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1 Int.), DT Davon Godchaux (52 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks) and OLB/DE Arden Key (50 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 10.0 sacks, 10 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles).

TALKING POINTS
•LSU is now 4-2in the Season of Orgeron, winning the four games by a combined 112 points. In six games under Coach “O”, LSU has allowed just 7 touchdowns and outscored opponents 93-33 in the second half. Overall under Coach “O”, LSU has outscored the opposition 173-64 or 28.8-10.7 per game.

•LSU remains only team in the FBS to hold opponents to 21 points or less in every game this year.

•The 11 touchdowns allowed by the LSU defense is the fewest in the nation. LSU has given up just 20 first quarter points and 23 third quarter points this year. LSU didn’t allow a first quarter TD until the sixth game of the season (Southern Miss). Wisconsin and Florida are the only teams to score a third quarter TD on the Tigers this year.

•Under Coach Orgeron, LSU has held its opponent scoreless in 13 of 24 quarters, including scoreless first halves against both Alabama and Missouri. LSU also held Ole Miss scoreless in the second half.

•LSU features the only backfield in the nation with 2 players who have rushed for 250 yards or more in a game this season (Leonard Fournette 284 vs. Ole Miss; Derrius Guice 252 vs. Arkansas). Overall, LSU has three backs (other Darrel Williams) who have rushed for 100 yards or more in a game this year.

•Fournette (843 yards) and Guice (964 yards) represent just the second 800-yard rushers in the same backfield in LSU history. The first two did it were Terry Robiskie (1,117 yards) and Charles Alexander (876 yards) in 1976.

•LSU LB Kendell Beckwith ranks No. 2 in the SEC in tackles (91) and tackles per game (9.1), while DE/OLB Arden Key leads the SEC in sacks per game (1.0) and ranks No. 2 in total sacks with 10.0. LB Duke Riley is No. 4 in the SEC in tackles per game with 8.1 a contest (81 total).

•Dating back to 2000, LSU has lost back-to-back games just 6 times.

•LSU’s defense has allowed its opponent to penetrate the redzone 29 times and the Tigers have allowed just 7 TDs on those occasions. LSU’s 7 redzone TDs allowed ranks No. 2 in the SEC, one behind Alabama.

•In its 4 losses, LSU allowed only 3 TDs. The 4 losses were by a combined 23 points and the outcome of the 2 of LSU’s 4 losses were decided on the final play of the game (Auburn and Florida).

•On 118 possessions by the opponent, LSU’s defense has allowed TDs on back-to-back possessions just one time (vs. Mississippi State).

•Since 2000, LSU has played 54 of its 62 games during the month of November ranked in the Top 25. And, since 2002, the Tigers have played 54 of their 57 November games ranked in the Top 25.

Beckwith Named Finalist for Butkus Award

CHICAGO – LSU senior linebacker Kendell Beckwith has been named one of five finalists for the 2016 Butkus Award the organization announced on Monday.

Beckwith, who was named to the watch list for the second consecutive year back in July, leads LSU with 91 tackles on the season, averaging 9.1 per game which is currently second overall in the SEC and 29th overall nationally. He was a semifinalist for the award as a junior last season.

The Clinton, Louisiana, native has three double figure tackle games on the season so far through 2016 and has eight for his career which is the most among defenders currently on the squad. Against Alabama Beckwith netted a new career high in tackles with 16 against the Crimson Tide, while having 15 against Southern Miss and 10 against Jacksonville State.

The Butkus Award is in its 32nd year of honoring the nation’s top collegiate and high school linebackers and is voted on by a panel of coaches, scouts and journalists. Collegiate and prep winners will be announced on or before December 6.

LSU returns to action on Thanksgiving night, traveling to take on the Texas A&M Aggies at Kyle Field at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
