LSU 56 UAB 17, more pics and Mettenberger set a school record with 5 tds in a single game
DCF was on the sidelines for the LSU vs UAB game, and from the start LSU took it to the Blazers. Zach Mettenberger had a school record for 5 touchdowns in a single game, 16-19, with 282 yards, and was the 1st quarterback in school history to break the record. Odell Beckham, Jr was on the receiving end with 3 tds, and Jarvis Landry caught two td’s to complete five for the record. Jeremy Hill and Terrance MaGee had the other scores on the ground. and Beckham,Jr ran an attempted field goal by UAB back for 108 yrd touchdown. There was plenty of productiveness out of the offense, for the second straight week the Tigers offense scored over 35 pts. I am sure Les Miles is happy with the offensive production, and for them to keep on rolling on. The defense was alittle concern in the 1st half, but as LSU DE Jordan Allen said after the game, we came to play Tiger defense and they found a way to stop that scrappy bunch of offensive players for UAB. It look like UAB was gonna make a run for it in the second half as LSU took a 35 to 17 lead into halftime, Darrin Weaves had a 11 yrd run and Jamarcus Nelson caught a 41 yrd pass from Austin Brown. Ty Long for UAB added a field goal as well before the half. LSU looked very good in the second half as they scored 21 unanswered points to go up 56 to 17, including Odell Beckham’s 108 yrd run back from a field goal attempt by UAB kicker. I am sure teams in the future will make sure not to miss anymore field goals with Beckham,Jr fielding the return. The Tigers look very productive and even the locals in Baton Rouge are starting open their eyes to a very special season.
LSU gets ready to take on Kent State this week at home in Tiger Stadium before they go on the road to face the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama has their hands fulls as they head up to College Station to play Texas A&M and Mr. Johnny Football. Hopefully Alabama better get their offensive line together, their offense only scored 14 pts against the Hokies, the defense and special teams scored the rest of the 21 points.

Zach Mettenberger after the TCU win, as LSU rolls 37 to 27
LSU Tigers ran away with the game in Cowboy Stadium as the beat the Horn frogs 37 to 27. In the 1st quarter LSU march down the field and got in the red zone, and the 2nd time they recovered a fumble off a kickoff return, so twice they were in the red zone and came away with 6 points. Zach Mettenberger looked really good in his debut at the Cowboy Stadium, the QB from Georgia is fitting right in with the Cam Cameron play calling. I am impress, this is the first time LSU scored 37 points in a while against a ranked team.
Gary Patterson was so worry about Jeremy Hill playing in the game, which Les Miles kept him out of the whole game. Patterson should focus on coaching his DB’s on playing better defense and no holding. LSU could have been up 14 to 0, but thanks to the holding going on and the Refs not making the right calls it was a quick 6 to 0. LSU pretty much stayed ahead of TCU throughout the game, but it did get somewhat interesting in the second half as LSU went up 30 to 17 but TCU came storming back with a different quarterback and cut the lead to 3 pts. BJ Catalon of the TCU hurt LSU on a 100 yrd kickoff return, and then he scampered 26 yrds for another td to bring the Horn frogs close in range of LSU. The LSU defense found a way to slow down Catalon and Boykin as the TCU offense came to a close. Mettenberger connected with Jarvis Landry for 20 yrd touchdown for the final score. Terrance MaGee had a big night with 2 scores and a 52 yrd run down the sidelines, McGee had 95 yards on the night with 13 rushes. Copeland pick up a touchdown as well with LSU 3 yards out, and the handed the ball off to the 270 lb full back and he plowed into the endzone. Aflred Blue had a big game as well with 95 yards on the ground and Beckham,jr had 272 all-purpose yards to help the offense and special teams as he ran a punt return back 76 yards. LSU look impressive at times on defense, they could have sealed the game late in the 4th quarter as they popped the ball out of Catalon’s hands, but a LSU lineman over jumped the ball and was recovered by a TCU Player. LSU looked very good on offense, and always needs to improve in all area’s. I think all the LSU Fans will be in for a treat this year because we are going to see something special this year. One of LSU opponents coming up in 3 weeks is Georgia, the Bulldogs find themselves 0-1 after losing to Clemson 38 to 35, looks like Corso from the College Game Day did not pick the right team in Clemson Land, shame on you Corso…..LOL. Georgia better come to play next week as they face South Carolina, they could start the season out 0-2.
