LSU Scrimmage no.2, Anthony Jennings most productive QB

Coach Miles says QB Jennings is feeling very comfortable about the LSU Offense and expects big things from the Georgia native.
The LSU Tigers had their 2nd scrimmage and the defense is dominating the aspect of the scrimmage. According to Les Miles Anthony Jennings was the most productive QB for this scrimmage, and Miles said he threw 2 touchdowns. WR DJ Clark caught 2 td’s and Dural caught a touchdown as well in the scrimmage. LSU gets ready for their annual scrimmage which will take place April 18th.
Here comes the ZAGS
Gonzaga is sending a message to the rest of the teams as they beat Iowa Hawkeyes by 18 pts. The Zags are rolling and they even have a former wildcat who won a championship with Kentucky, Kyle Wiiltjer who chipped in 24 pts from the outside with 3’s and from the inside. The freshman Sabonis, chipped in 18 pts, who is the son of Arvydas Sabonis who played for the Portland Trail Blazers in the 80’s and 90’s. Pangos helped with point production and is consider the best point guard in the NCAA. It would be interesting for the Zags to meet up with Kentucky, and amazing to see if Gonzaga knocks off the wildcats. I got the Zags knocking off UCLA by 10 or 15, and Duke in a very close game, and they probably will face the Sooners, or Michigan State. In my bracket I do have Kentucky vs Gonzaga in the Championship Game. Mark Few has his team playing with a purpose, the Zags consistently been in the sweet 16, to round it out and end up in the Final Four, which they have been in to the top 3 pretty much throughout the whole year. I would say it would be remarkable if Stockton”s Alma Mater beats Kentucky in the last game of the season. We already know what team America would root for if Kentucky and Gonzaga met up, the underdog, and if Gonzaga won that game it would Pandemonium throughtout the USA.

LSU loses in College Station 68-62 as the Aggies make more free throws and inside buckets.
LSU fell behind early in the game as Aggies House and Jones took control of the game and went up 21-10. LSU jumped back into the game thanks to 3 threes by Hornsby that put LSU in the lead. LSU was up 36-29 with 5 seconds left in the half, as a Aggie guard threw up a prayer only for Roberson from the Aggies catch the miss 3 pt shot and laid it up before the clock ran out. Something told me right then and there when I was watching the game on the SEC Network, I had a bad feeling about that last second basket even though LSU was leading 36-31 going into halftime. You can’t let the opposing team on their home court catch balls in mid-air and make lay ups as time expires.
LSU got a 8 pt lead, but as time went on instead of feeding the ball into Martin and Mickey, the guards starting taking 3 point shots. My question is why is Martin taking three-point shots, Gray walks in misses a layup, and no production from Mickey. If Mickey scores 15 points LSU easily beats Texas AM, also Quarterman at 6ft 6 and 185 lbs trying to take it inside. Quarterman go hit the weights in the offseason, eat some pizza drink some beer put on 15 pounds of muscle then bring it inside. Quarterman was guarding House from the Aggies, House finished 20 pts on the night. House took a 30 ft three and swished it, Quarterman was about 4 feet away as the 6’7 Aggie pulled up from downtown. Quarterman was also 3-11 from the field with 3 threes, he had 5 steals and 8 assists and 9 points from the field. Brian Bridgewater had a good night off the bench with 9 pts 6 rebounds and 1 block.
The question is who is the point guard for LSU, who is running the offense, is it Quarterman, Patterson or Gray, and who are the shooters, and why does everyone try to be the superstar, there should be more assits from each player,Quarterman and Hornsby are the only players passing the ball, and Patterson had no assists. LSU has some soul searching to do to see how far they go. The best thing for them if they make it to the 64 tourney, hopefully they stay far away from Kentucky and Texas AM, especially AM, it seems they know how to beat LSU.
When you have a 8 pt lead you don’t need to take three’s, you need to send the ball down low and get 10 ft shots or foul shots, and that’s where LSU only had 10 attempts from the line, compared to Texas AM with 26, AM made 14 which equalled to 14 points and LSU made 8 which gave them 8pts, that’s a 6 pt difference which was the difference of the game Texas AM 68 LSU 62.
LSU faces Texas AM tonight with a 6-2 record on the road.

LSU Jordan Mickey goes up for a dunk against Kentucky.
LSU Basketball gets ready for Texas AM tonight as they travel to College Station. The Tigers look to take down the Aggies in front of their fans like they did in Tennesee as they beat the Vols 71-55, very impressive win by the LSU Basketball Team.
Jordan Mickey had 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks Saturday as LSU rode a dominant first-half performance to a 73-55 victory over Tennessee.
“We played the No. 1 team in the country to a two-point game, and we believe we should have possibly won it,” Mickey said. “We came in knowing we’re a good team. We know what we’re capable of doing.”
Hornsby had 16 points and seven assists while leading the perimeter attack for LSU, which shot 9 of 19 from 3-point range. Tim Quarterman added 13 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Lights, Camera, and Action. Could LSU upset Kentucky two years in a roll
LSU defeats Kentucky, 95-94, Feb. 11, 1978.
Perhaps the most important regular-season game win of the Dale Brown Era. This victory signified LSU had arrived on the basketball scene.
Kentucky came into the game ranked No. 1 in the country and would later go on to win the national championship.
But on this night at the Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, the Tigers would be victorious. All five of LSU’s starters fouled out of the game. The contest went into overtime. Yet, LSU prevailed at the end.
The stage is set again as no.1 Kentucky Wildcats come into the PMAC and LSU playing good basketball. Are the stars lining up tonight for LSU as they try to put forth an upset over no.1 Kentucky Wildcats.
The Arena is sold out, on Super Tuesday on ESPN, you know the whole nation could be tuning in as LSU try’s to knock off the wildcats, which they did last year under Johnny Jones. If LSU Tigers guard Hornsby and Gray hit there 3’s and open looks, and Quarterman has a big game, and Mickey and Martin control the boards and dominate the inside, we might be seeing a upset.
I got a chance to meet some Kentucky Wildcat Fans, it was Mr. and Mrs.Winn, who are traveling through as they watch their Wildcats take on the Tigers of LSU. Mr. Winn was a basketball coach at Paducah High School for quite a while. I really enjoyed my talk with him and his wife, and they have a daughter who went to Ole Miss, and the Winns were very amazed how LSU and Ole Miss do not like each other, in other words a serious rivalry, as I told him the last football game in Tiger Stadium, even their women were crying as LSU beat no.2 Ole Miss 10-7, and we even sent their star quarterback running for the tunnel before the game was over.
So there you go folks, lights camera and college basketball. With a Capital A.
Taller than SHAQ at age 12
I am with Kennedy Basco who stands at 6″4 and he is only 12 years old at St Aloysius Catholic school, Baton Rouge,Louisiana. That’s a 8 ft goal in the background. At the age of 12 Shaquille O”Neal was 5″11, and Kennedy is 12 and stands at 6″4 …..Kennedy also plays football and has to wear a black stripped mark on his helmet, because of his size he is not allowed to touch the football. Kennedy enjoys reading and likes being tall. He has a 3.7 GPA at St. Aloysius Catholic School. Stay tune to more to come on Kennedy Basco on dailycollegefootball.com and check us out on Facebook as well.
LSU Football recruits for 2015
The LSU Football team went out and recruited a bunch of lineman, OL Toby Weathersby from Houston,Tx, 4 top receivers, 6’5 Jazz Ferguson, 6’4 Brandon Martin, 6’2 Tyron Johnson and 5’11 Derrick Dillon and some defense, with Donte Jackson 5 star corner back. Les went an found another Aussie punter, Josh Growden . Les Miles really likes those Aussie punters, perhaps when Florida comes to Tiger Stadium, Les will send the Josh to fake a punt, and he can take off down field for a 50 yard td, and glide in like a airplane like the previous Aussie punter Brad Wing did back in 2011. Coach Miles mention the brothers at LSU had younger brothers, and how they followed them to LSU, like Lenoard Fournettes younger brother Lanard Fournette. LSU looks to replace some linemen and a few defensive faces, but they were not able to recruit any new linebackers. I am sure that will be a big decision in 2016 to get more defensive players. One running back from New Orleans Isodole Freeman a 3 star running back was not picked up by LSU, and went to AM, and express some resentment towards LSU, saying since they didn’t sign me, we are gonna tear (LSU Tigers) up, like we haven’t heard that before. Did Mr.Isidole Newman, really think he was gonna get some playing time, knowing alot of the snaps will go to sophmore Leonard Fournette. The rookies need to learn there place in life.

ESPN getting all worked up about deflated footballs
Today was the big day that Patriots Coach Belichick and Qb Tom Brady got a chance to talk to the press about the deflated football that were used to beat the Indianapolis Colts 45-7. It was a very interesting interview to listen to the reporters asking them questions of the deflated footballs. Tom Brady commented how he 1st saw the footballs about 5 hours prior to halftime, like he was on a date, and also side step alot of the press questions with different kinds of answers or was that Coach Belichick. I think it was Coach Belichick, he was asked all kinds of questions and Brady as well, and I think at the end of the day things got shifted down to the equipment manager being responsible for the deflated footballs. It was really funny listening to ESPN report and joke about it for about 3 hours on Sportscenter after the interview. Can’t the press find more things to talk about like the defending NFL Football Champions Seattle Seahawks, I am sure that should be the focus, not the deflated footballs. Even a ESPN reporter says she is still getting worked up about would should be done about the PATS using deflated footballs, like they will be brought to court. Boy ESPN talk about funny, you know there is a big game coming up on Feb. 1st…. it’s called the Super Bowl 49, that would be something to focus on. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will here more about the Super Bowl and the Seattle Seahawks instead of the deflated footballs.
Why are Alabama Coaches leaving ?
It seems as though as all of Nick Saban coaching staff are jumping ship, he is about to lose Kiffin Lane to the 49ers, and Kevin Steele departed for LSU, and Lance Thompson linebackers coach, went to Auburn. Whats next for Nickie and the Crimson Tide, and how is he gonna replace those coaches……. perhaps Colin Herd was right about the decline of Saban…… Phyllis( Finebaum listener and caller) sure didn’t like to hear that that’s for sure.
LSU Coach Les Miles goes out and hires a Dream Team Defense
LSU Coach Les Miles went out and hired Kevin Steele who coached at Alabama, and also hired on Ed Orgeron who coached at Ole Miss and USC. It seems like the SEC West is shifting defensive coordinators throughout the league, Will Muschamp goes to Auburn, John Chavis goes to Texas AM, and now Kevin Steele comes to LSU after leaving Alabama.
Les Miles comments on Kevin Steele.
“Kevin has had a very successful coaching career, one that has seen him coach alongside some of the top coaches in the game,” Miles said in a LSU news release. “He won a national title with Tom Osborne at Nebraska, coached with Bobby Bowden at Florida State, and coached in the NFL with one of the great defensive coaches in Dom Capers.”
Les Miles commented on Ed Orgeron:
“Ed is an expert when it comes to the defensive line,” Miles said in a statement. “He will bring tremendous enthusiasm and energy to our program. His passion and love for the state of Louisiana makes him a great fit for us.
“Ed has done a great job at every coaching stop he’s made. His teams are always well prepared, played hard on every snap and fed off the enthusiasm and excitement that he brought to the field. This is a great hire for us and we are really excited about Coach O becoming a Tiger.”
It seems as though Ed Orgeron stole the show as the focus shifted to him as he came on stage and talk about being home and back in Manderville where his family lives. Orgeron, who was head coach at Ole Miss from 2005 to 2007, served as an assistant with the New Orleans Saints and the Tennessee Volunteers before following Kiffin to USC, where he was defensive line coach.
Orgeron was out of college football last season after he led USC to a 6-2 record following the firing of then-coach Lane Kiffin in 2013. The Trojans hired Steve Sarkisian, who finished the 2014 season with a 9-4 record, including a bowl win over Nebraska.
I got a chance to speak to Coach Orgeron during the press conference and asked him if he is ready to pepper the gumbo for some qb’s in the SEC, and he brought up the Blind Side right away and we talked about the movie and USC Football. I told him I been to some USC Football games living in the Southern Cally area for 10 years, and he asked what years, I said the 2003 thru 2010 years, he commented and said those were some good years for USC Football.
The LSU Football getting ready for a New Year 2015
Dailycollegefootball.com ran into some Happy Happy Happy fans in Nashville,Tn. at the Music City Bowl. What a fun time it was even though LSU lost to Notre Dame by the score of 31-28. A big day for Leonard Fournette with 3 tds, and 258 rushing yards and all-purpose yards. Fournette had three big plays, 100 yards kickoff return, a 89 yard scamper down the field, and a 12 yard run into the endzone. LSU went thru alot even before the game finding out from John Chavis that he accepted the Texas AM Job. I don’t know why Chavis had to tell the team that, could he have waited until after the game, or talk to Texas AM the following New Years Day and focus on winning the game. I am amazed, why could you just wait til the game or season was over. That’s the way this season has been with the LSU Tigers one break after another, and this happens.
The LSU Team went thru alot this season, a young squad, being put at no.8th in the nation losing to Miss State at home, Jennings struggling with New Mexico State, losing to Auburn 42-7 after starting Harris the freshman. It’s been an interesting ride for sure for the Tigers. The big game of the year of course was knocking off Ole Miss. Wallace jawing with the LSU Fans behind his bench, bad move Wallace, never jaw with the LSU Fans……. and LSU almost beating Alabama which was famous for the call by the ref, as Les Miles said in the Press room, changed the complexion of the game, and I must say after covering LSU Football on the sidelines for 2 years, Les Miles never says too much about the calls on the field. The season went on as they travel up to Arkansas and played in some cold weather, and the Hogs were looking for their 1st SEC win in 17 try’s and won 17-0 over the Tigers. So it’s been a somewhat trying year for the Tigers, and for LSU to go up to College Station and hand the Aggies a 23-17 lost was impressive. The last game of the season going to Music City Bowl to play to Notre Dame and to compete against a team that almost beat FSU, which they really won that game. The Irish were on a 4 game losing streak, so I am sure LSU was thinking, this win could be in the bag, but not when Qb Zaire is walking into the endzone for a touchdown and the receiver for Notre Dame is skipping into the endzone like a ballerina, amazing. The famous question of the day would be where was the defense and the defensive coordinator for the LSU Tigers.
